The trendy new Pretzel Bacon Cheeseburger at Wendy’s is worth trying.

But you’d better hurry up.

The limited time offer menu item comes complete with everything that a regular quarter-pounder would include, but add the pretzel bun, honey mustard, cheddar cheese and smoked bacon.

With all of the ingredients, the menu item packs 680 calories, according to wendys.com.

Not only can customers order the pretzel bun on the cheeseburger, but it is also offered on any other sandwich on the restaurant’s menu.

Curious customers will want to try the pretzel buns while they’re hot, for they are not a permanent menu item at this time, and there isn’t any indication from the Wendy’s staff of anything else like the pretzel bun being featured soon.

The combo Pretzel Bun Burger with fries and a drink can be purchased for approximately $7. The sandwich itself is approximately $6, which is reasonable for such a hot menu item.

One bite of the burger will send your tastebuds on a rollercoaster. The spring sauce is very bold but complemented by the letuce.

The pretzel burger bun itself was somewhat tough and made it hard to taste the burger. Overall, the bun didn’t taste like a pretzel, but it is attractive with its X pattern on the top bun.

Pretzel buns made lots of headlines this past summer. In addition to Wendy’s, they showed up on the menus at Dunkin Donuts, Smash Burger, Ruby Tuesday and Sonic Burger. At Sonic Burger they were available as hotdog buns.

Following the pretzel bun trend, it looks like the next big addition to fast food menus is low-calorie French fries. Burger King has unveiled “Satisfries” – a crinkle-cut version of traditional French fries with 30 percent less fat and 20 percent fewer calories.

Now if you could just pair Satisfries with a pretzel burger, you’d really have something.
