Sandwich in Some Time for a Jersey Mike’s Sub
The newest sandwich shop in town is Jersey Mike’s Subs, which brought its buns to the corner of 12 Mile Road and Southfield roads, in Lathrup Village.
This is a handy place to go for hot or cold subs that are affordable, filling and tasty.
They also do catering and delivery.
On a recent visit I tried the original seven-inch Italian sub, a cold sandwich for $7.95 that came wrapped in paper with all the usual suspects of an Italian sub: provolone cheese, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami and pepperoni. It has a special oil-based dressing that sets it all off.
I am no first-timer when it comes to Italian subs, so when I say it was delicious, I speak with a voice of experience. Compared to other Italian subs I have known, this one ranked highly.
My friend ordered the seven-inch Big Kahuna Chicken Cheese Steak Sub, a hot sandwich for a big appetite. The $7.95 seven-inch sub had slices of chicken with grilled onion and peppers, topped with mushrooms, jalapenos and gooey cheese. You’ll want an extra napkin with this one because it is a little messy, in a good way.
The restaurant offers options for those who are trying to watch their calories, such as different bread choices for the buns, and you can order the subs without the sauces if you’d like.
Their subs come in three sizes – mini (five-inch), regular (seven-inch), and giant (14 inches). The giant could be great for two to split.
In general, this is a convenient place to catch a quick bite. Nothing fancy, just a good sandwich shop on the block.

I’ve never been there before, but my daughter came home telling me how good it was. I think I want to go try it.
