Fuddruckers Adds Southfield Location

Restaurant Review

Burgers and fries – that’s what Fuddrucker’s is known for. Pictured is the “The Works” – a burger with smokehouse bacon, American cheese and grilled mushrooms . Fries, too.

After all the chatting about the new Fuddruckers in Southfield, it was time to put it to the taste test.
On a recent afternoon visit, the mostly burgers and shakes restaurant was clean and fresh. It has an old-school 1950s feel sparked by a counter full of bar stools and vintage turquoise and candy apple red decor.
Diners have to approach the cashiers and tell them what they’d like to eat after reading the menu boards on the wall. For those who want it all, the restaurant also offers a buffet to add all the toppings to a burger or a salad.
I ordered the Inferno Burger, which comes with spicy jalapeno caramelized onions and Monterrey Jack cheese, plus thick cut fries and an Oreo milkshake. I do not wish to know the calorie count because I am sure it was astronomical.
Before we go any further, I must say the Oreo shake was deliciously sweet, and I would like another some day soon.
My friend ordered “The Works” – a burger with smokehouse bacon, American cheese and grilled mushrooms on the side, with fries and a tall, tempting strawberry milkshake.
Neither of us was adventurous enough to try the exotic hamburgers they offer, such as buffalo meat, elk or wild boar, but for those who want to try it, it is there.
For vegetarians, they offer a veggie burger, or the Napa salad (Romaine lettuce, bleu cheese, apples, cranberries and almonds. For salad lovers, they also have a chicken caesar salad.
Yes, there is a kiddie menu, too. It has the usual offerings: hot dogs, burgers, cheese burgers, and grilled cheese.
Our food was prepared quickly and was hot when we received it. The burgers were juicy and tender. The shakes were thick and creamy. I sampled my friend’s milkshake, and it was delicious, too.
It was a little pricey – $30.14 for two 1/2 pound burger combos, including the shakes, but it was worth the money. So delicious.
Overall, on a scale of 1 to 10, I would have to give Fuddruckers in Southfield a 10. It was all good – food, service, cleanliness, burger choices. Plus, the restaurant parking is free and convenient.
It is a great choice for a casual family event, a date, or dinner with friends.
