Junior Malaya Watson has big summer plans.

The singer who made it to the top eight finalists on “American Idol XIII” is scheduled to spend the summer traveling with the American Idol 2014 Live Tour that starts June 24 in Binghampton, New York, and ends August 23 in Redmond, Washington.

The tour is scheduled to stop in Mt. Pleasant, Mich, August 7, at Soaring Eagle Casino Resort.

“I enjoyed my time in Hollywood, and it was beautiful, but I am glad to be back home in Michigan with my friends and family.”

Watson was eliminated from the show on April 10, and returned to classes on April 15.

Watson’s father, Ronald Watson, said, “She did great” and said he was proud of her.

Still competing among the six remaining finalists at press time was fellow competitor Jena Irene Asciutto from nearby North Farmington High School.
