Senior Cortney Williams is Chicago-bound to play basketball for Loyola University.

Southfield star athletes have already had colleges begging for them.

Malik McDowell, who is ranked number 2 in the state for football, says he has no idea which school he is going to play for. He says he has offers from “everywhere.”

But it’s not just McDowell with the college money. Here’s who else has offers:

Senior Cortney Williams has an offer to play basketball for Chicago’s Loyola University, she says.

Senior David Cole says he has three college offers for baseball but is keeping them all under his cap for now.

Ty’jai Thompson, the catcher for the Southfield baseball team, has 2 offers for baseball: Indiana Tech and Florida A&M University. But Thompson says he isn’t even sure if it’s baseball or marching band he wants to devote his energies to in college. He’s also the trumpet section leader of the Marching Blue Jays.

Though he is only a junior and he has a knee injury, wide receiver Raymond Buford already has four offers for football. Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Ohio State and Toledo University all want Buford to come play for their team. Buford says he still has time to think, but Michigan State keeps ringing in his head.

Southfield continues to rack up money and it’s only the beginning of the year, said Athletic Director Anika McEvans.
