Blue Jay Cafe Reopens

The student-run Blue Jay Café is now open for lunch twice a week, serving staff members only.

Teachers and other staff members can come during first or second lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays and purchase student-made soup or salads. Head Chef Alice Moss says that the café plans to start serving desserts as well.

About half of the school’s staff goes to the café for lunch and enjoys themselves, Moss says.

At this time students do not cook full meals, but they chop vegetables, season meats, and set up the salad bar. They also help plan the lunch menu, serve the food, and prepare the dining area for guests., Moss says.

Senior Jeffrey Adams says the soup smells good on Tuesdays and Thursdays and he wishes he could try the food. “The café should be opened to everyone,” not just staff members., Adams says.

But there are no plans at this time to allow students to purchase food from the Blue Jay Café.

Menu prices are as follows:

Soups are $3; salad bar is $4 and beverages are $1. Beverage choices are iced tea, lemonade and a blend of tea and lemonade.
