Southfield Jay Staff Wins 2013 Gallup Award

The Southfield Jay won another George H. Gallup Award for excellence in high school journalism from Quill and Scroll.

Quill and Scroll is an international honor society for high school journalists.

“I’m really proud of the staff that we had last year,” said Emanne Johnson, the editor-in-chief for the 2012-2013 school year. “At the beginning of the year we set a goal to win an award as a staff, not just individual awards,”

The award was given on the basis of papers published between October 2012 to May 2013.

“Receiving such a high honor is a testament to the success that can be achieved when you work hard toward a goal,” Johnson added.

The Southfield Jay has won nine Gallup Awards since 2004.
