It is the last hurrah for the graduating Class of 2013.

The Southfield Jay surveyed 223 out of the 226 seniors in the school to find out where the eldest Blue Jays are headed after graduation. While graduation festivities are on the horizon, survey results indicate learning and hard work will not cease at 9 a.m., June 2, at Chene Park.

According to the survey, 86 percent of seniors plan to attend a college or university post-graduation. Of those planning to attend college, approximately a quarter of them are headed to three most popular schools amongst graduates, in order: Eastern Michigan University, Michigan State University and Oakland Community College. Within the 86 percent, engineering, medicine and business are the top three fields graduates plan to major in.

While 25.5 percent of graduates plan to go out-of-state for college, the vast majority – 74.5 percent – plan to attend school in Michigan. Miami University of Ohio, the school Collin Buchanan plans to attend, is the oldest university on the list, at a whopping 204 years old. Blue Jay Lorenzo Dillard is flying the farthest away from home for college—over 2,005 miles, to be exact, to attend school in California. Another 14 percent of the seniors surveyed are either joining the military, staying home, going straight to work or could ot decide.
