Science teacher Fred Pellerito’s seventh hour class won the third annual hygiene product drive by donating more than 500 toothbrushes, lip balms, band-aids and other hygiene items.
The drive was sponsored by the National Honor Society, which Pellerito co-sponsors.
The drive benefits the Prayer House Church, of Detroit, which has agreed to distribute the products to homeless individuals.
Seventh hour classes competed to win an ice cream party.
The drive lasted from April 20 – May 1.
NHS co-sponsor Bruce Shepard said, “The drive went well. Over 1,000 contributions were made this year. Contributions were down this year compared to other years, but we hope to receive more donations next year.”
