Golf Season Proves Tough for Blue Jays

This has been a tough season on the Boys Golf Team, said Coach Milton Jones.

“We never really got to get the swing of things due to such a heavy winter,” Jones said. “We had lots of cancelled matches.”

The team finished with a 4-5 record, making it to districts, which were held at Huron Meadows Golf Course, in Brighton. The team did not qualify for regionals this year, Jones said.

Despite the team’s finish, junior Adrian Springer had a winning personal record, winning 3 of his 5 matches of the season. “I’ve always golfed with my father before I joined the team,” Springer said. “Joining the team helped improve my talents in golf.”

Springer said while he enjoys golf, it is only one of his interests. “Golf was life for most of the guys we played against,” Springer said. “The games I won were against people like me still in their beginning of their career, just getting to know the sport.”
