The new Boys Soccer team made it to the playoffs but lost in the first round to Troy Athens.

They ended their season with a 13-4 record.

Soccer is a new sports opportunity available to Warriors this year.
The Southfield A & T campus has not had a soccer team since the 2003-2004 school year, according to social studies teacher Jamie Glinz. who played soccer for Southfield when he was a student at the school and now teaches at his alma mater.
The team is comprised of students from Southfield A & T, as well as students from University High School.
Coached by Steven Motter, the team has 17 players.
Senior forward Justin Williams said, “I think we’ve been doing really well as a team. We may not be the best, but the way we work together and work hard every day at practice is what sets us apart.”
Boys soccer is a fall sport and girls soccer will be a spring sport, said Athletic Director Erik Winston.
The school added a soccer team due to student interest in the sport, Winston said.
There is one catch, however: The team holds practices at the Southfield-Lathrup campus on 12 Mile because the Southfield A & T field is occupied with not only three football teams (Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman Football), as well as the marching band.
The announcer for the soccer matches is Economics teacher Matthew Hirvela.
Coach Motter formed the team over the summer and held practices.
