This year’s Mighty Blue Jay Girls Tennis team had the luxury of playing three straight matches on their new tennis courts that were refurbished last year.

The players and visitors have had no complaints so far about cracks or other court distractions from the actual game.

The team defeated Cass Tech High School, tied against Ferndale High school and lost to Avondale High School, Royal Oak High School and Oxford High School.

Senior Veronica Owens, also the captain of the tennis team, says, “We can do better, preparing individually and as a team.”

She says the team needs to maintain a positive attitude. The new courts do help, Owens says.
