Poetry Club Welcomes Writers
Writers who want to stretch their talents are invited to attend Poetry Club meetings on Wednesdays after school in room B-110 with English teacher Virna Hobbs-Calhoun.
Poetry Club members can do “whatever they want to do, and it’s really up to them,” said Hobbs-Calhoun, who revived the Poetry Club after two years of no meetings.
The club at present has 15 members, said Hobbs-Calhoun. At meetings the members discuss what they are interested in and share their writings.
Club member Shannon Harper, a sophomore, said she wants to become a writer and is not limiting herself to poetry. Harper said the club allows her to meet new people in an open-minded setting.
The club’s most recent project was to put acts together for the Black History month program.
