Nobel Prize Winner To Speak at Southfield High Graduation

Nobel Prize winner Robert Shiller is scheduled to be the keynote speaker at Southfield High School’s Graduation ceremony on Sunday, June 12, at 4 p.m. at Chene Park.

Shiller is a 1963 graduate of Southfield High School. He won the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2013 and currently teaches economics at Yale University.

“My first publication was in The Southfield Jay,” recalled Shiller, who was a writer for the school newspaper during his high school career. He has also been published in The New York Times.

He is a graduate of The University of Michigan and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
