DeFoe Heads to State 3-Point Contest
Southfield High school will be sending its first girl in school history – junior Kristilynn DeFoe – to the district three-point contest on Saturday, March 21.
The contest will consist of 20 of the top shooters in the state to come to one court and find out who is the best shooter. The final two shooters will get to shoot it out at the class A Final, which was yet to be determined at press time.
DeFoe has been working with a trainer outside of school to help her with her shooting.
Girls Basketball Coach Jamie Glinz said, “It is a big honor since its only 20 girls in the state that get to go. It’s a reflection of a good season.”
Glinz is very proud of the young guard whom he coached throughout her high school career. You don’t see too many left-handed, gifted shooters, Glinz said.
DeFoe said, “It’s my chance to get the scouts’ attention and to show off how much of a pure shooter I am.”
DeFoe has been practicing all week waiting for her chance to showcase her talents.
