Cafe Review: New Dessert Shop Appeals to Organic Sweet Tooths
How Sweet It Is
A new organic cupcake shop named Piece of Cake recently opened in Southfield on 10 Mile in Southfield.
The shop was opened by sisters Donyell and Heather Teal, who are vegans and vegetarians. They focus on an organic, healthy lifestyle, but still love their desserts. The slogan for their cafe is “have your cake . . . eat healthy, too.”
This is a one-of-a-kind family business; the owners said they wanted to start small and work their way up to bigger opportunities.
The organic cupcakes may sound too healthy to be delicious, but they are honestly scrumptious.
Cupcake lovers can work on a more healthy lifestyle while still enjoying food.
They offer all different cupcake flavors from salted caramel to lemon and key lime.
They do not just serve cupcakes; they have other types of desserts. such as pound cake slices, cookies, cake pops, lemon bars, mini pies, pretzel cakes and sugar-free cupcakes. They also have a section for vegan cupcakes and push pops and organic ice cream.
Dessert prices range from $3 to $8, depending on what you decided to get. They have three different sized cupcakes, from extra large to regular and mini.
The XL strawberry cupcake was very scrumptious and is also available in the regular size. It was barely noticeable that it was organic. The pink icing was temptingly thick, creamy and sensational. The cake was moist and tasty, and you can tell that the bakers used actual strawberries and not artificial flavors.
The cookies and cream cupcake is made with organic Oreos and tasted as delicious as it looked. If nobody told you it was made with all organic ingredients, you wouldn’t know. Their cafe has a feminine flair with hot pink and white decor but the desserts are for anyone.
Piece of Cake cafe is a healthy spin on desserts. It’s well worth a visit, as well as a return visit.

I read the article – http://southfieldtimes.com/uncategorized/2016/02/24/cafe-review-new-dessert-shop-appeals-to-organic-sweet-tooths/ but the article didn’t mention vegan cakes and vegan pies, only vegan cupcakes and ice cream. Do you offer vegan cakes and vegan pies? I love desserts and would be so excited if these were offered.
