A Southfield High alumnus, Andrew Bowler, has recently been nominated for an Oscar for his short film Time Freak.
After making his way from Southfield to New York City and then finally falling into Los Angeles, Bowler has retired drama teacher Brenda Perryman to thank.
Bowler had Time Freak entered into several film festivals, including Stony Brook Film Festival, the Seattle International Film Festival, and the Route 66 Film Festival. People just liked it, says Perryman.
Time Freak is a science fiction film about a neurotic inventor who creates a time machine. After entering the machine, he becomes side-tracked with his experiments and realizes that he is lost in yesterday.
The film stars John Conor Brooke and Michael Nathanson.
