Southfield High students who would like to be in a stage play are invited to audition for the nearby Southfield-Lathrup High School production, said Southfield-Lathrup Drama teacher Stephanie Schinke-Justice.
“I haven’t picked the play yet,” Schinke-Justice said. “I’m waiting to see who is interested,” she said. If she has more males interested than females, she will choose one play she said. “If there are more females, then I’ll choose another.”
Applications for interested students are available in the main office.
Southfield High has not had its own stage plays since Drama teacher Brenda Perryman retired two years ago.
Students can, however, still enroll in acting classes at Southfield High taught by Acting teacher Katrina Echols.
Echols says the school’s stage plays might be gone, but the student talent never left.
