Nursing
The University of Michigan is hosting Nursing Genesis II from July 11 – 23. You’ll have an opportunity to attend mock nursing classes, work with faculty researchers and learn college preparatory skills. To attend, you must be a ninth or tenth grader with a B average. Art or Music
Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp is the largest provider of arts education to Michigan youths. Many classes are held outdoors in a woodsy setting. Bring the instrument of your choice and learn to play it better, or enroll in art classes.

JOURNALISM:
Learn to take fabulous photos, design printed pages, or edit video at the Michigan Interscholastic Press Association’s Summer Journalism workshop for high school students. Program dates are Aug. 1-5 at Michigan State University in East Lansing. Cost is $365, including tuition, housing and food. For more information, visit

ENGINEERING, MATH & SCIENCE:
Kettering University in Flint is sponsoring Academically Interested Minorities (AIM), a five-week residential summer program for African American, Hispanic and Native American students who are currently juniors in high school. The program gives students a college-life experience and prepares them to make a successful transition from high school to college. It introduces them to engineering, math, science and management fields of study. All expenses are covered by the program, except in some cases, transportation. Application deadline is April 19. Wolverine Health Explorers (WHE) is a non-residential summer camp for high school students interested in gaining exposure to careers in health. DANCE:
Interlochen High school modern dance summer program lasts for three weeks and will cover Ballet Technique, Modern Technique, Improvisation/Composition, Jazz, Body Conditioning and Repertory. The cost is $4,115 (discounts offered to students who enroll in multiple sessions). Apply on line for $45 or by mail. This camp has two different sessions but the same program. CAREER EXPLORATIONS:
Travel to Michigan Tech University in the Upper Peninsula for a one-week camp to explore careers. Choose one of six options: Business, Computing, Engineering, Humanities, Environmental Studies or Science. Learn new software, rappel down a cliff, fly an airplane, produce a film, build a robot or backpack on an island – your choice.
