When most people think of twins, they think of lookalikes, matching outfits, and people reading each other’s minds. Southfield High alumni twins Kristopher and Kristina Nunn do not fit the usual twin mold. Since graduating 10 years ago, they rarely even see each other, do not dress alike and never really looked much alike. The Class of 2000 grads attended different universities and currently live in different states. Kristopher lives in Garfield Heights, Ohio, while his twin, Kristina, is hundreds of miles away in St. Louis, Missouri. Here’s what they have to say:
How do you feel about being so far away from your twin?
Kristopher: “We are only apart physically; we are closer than we were in high school”
Kristina: “We’ve learn to make it work. We haven’t physically resided in the same location since high school, but we still remain close.”
What’s the best/worst thing about being a twin?
Kristopher: Best thing is that you are never alone; worst thing is you are never alone.
Kristina: Best thing is having someone that truly knows me inside and out. Worst thing is silly questions asked as the result of being a twin, like do I bleed when he bleeds.
Do you have any other siblings?
Kristina: Kendall, 19, is our only other sibling, also a Southfield High graduate.
What extra curricular activities did you participate in at Southfield High?
Kristina: We were both in National Honor Society, Scholars Plus, Band, Students Against Drunk Driving, and Southfield Student Congress
What college did you attend?
Kristopher: Hampton University, in Hampton, Virginia
Kristina: University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and Wayne State University
What was your major?
Kristopher: Business Administration undergrad and MBA (Master of Business Administration)
Kristina: Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology
How did the classes you took in high school help you in the future?
Kristopher: I came to appreciate the value of education.
Kristina: Advanced Placement classes helped us bypass taking some college courses and gave me exposure to other areas that I would not have taken in college, like chemistry.
