After approximately 10 years of planning, the Southfield Field Zone is near completion.
The Field Zone is a place for middle and high school students to gather. It was designed and put into action by the Southfield Community Foundation.
Foundation Director Lauren King said, “The dream for the Field Zone has been to create a safe place for the youth of Southfield and Lathrup Village to call their own.”
The field zone is scheduled to open May 30. It will house a recording studio, sound proof rooms for music practice, a stage for performers, a movie theater, an Internet hub and a dance studio, King said.
The Field Zone is located off of Evergreen Road in the basement of the Southfield Pavilion.
Enrollment for the Field Zone is Memorial Day weekend, May 23-25.
Junior Nicholas Tubbs said, “It’s great for the community to have a teen zone. It sound like it’s going to be fun. I just wish it opened up earlier when I was a little younger.”
