The Marching Blue Jay Band, which was undefeated in competition last season, is showing no signs of slowing down.
The Blue Jays recently attended a multi-school band competition at Shaw High School in Cleveland and won the title of overall grand champions.
The Blue Jays were classified as a Flight A band, which is a band that has 100 members or more. Also competing in the same flight was neighboring school Southfield-Lathrup High.
In flight A the Blue Jays won first place in music, percussion and drum majors. They received second place in marching and auxiliary.
The Blue Jays competed against bands from Ohio, Michigan and Washington, D.C., according to Band Director Thomas Miller.
