Senior Nakia Richardson has secured her fourth consecutive first place prize in poetry competitions. This time, however, she tied with fellow seniors Jocelyn Elmore and Gabrielle Rutland in the Poetry Floetry Jam, which was the first thespian performance for the 2004-2005 school year. It took place Oct. 6 in the school’s auditorium. Second place went to senior Kyla Smith, while senior Phillip Vails came in third. Vails said that he “connected with the audience” because his poem about his mother was “deep and very personal.” The next thespian performance is slated for Dec. 10 and 11.
