Dirty Dancing Havana Nights starring Diego Luna as Javier Suarez and Romola Garai as Katey Miller, entailed a poor Cuban boy and a rich American girl in Havana, Cuba, who team up to enter a dance contest for a cash prize.
As the film progresses, the two fall in love as they dance sensually together in nightclubs, the ocean, and at the competitions necessary to win the cash prize. The fact that they’re from different worlds is the reason they hide their relationship from their parents.
True romantics will enjoy this movie and appreciate the lovey dovey plot. The chemistry between Javier and Katey will make romantics want to travel to Havana, Cuba, to discover it first hand. Unfortunately, those who love the thrill of action will be bored with this love story since it lacks true heroic feats.
Not to be confused with a sequel or prequel, this movie is just another story about dirty dancing, but that could become confusing when Patrick Swayze, from the original Dirty Dancing, graces the screen as Katey’s dance instructor.
Toe tapping dancing and a few comic relief scenes were inserted into the story, but the predictable plot can cause a momentary lapse in interest.
The hour and forty-five minute film doesn’t have the same zest as the original Dirty Dancing made in 1987 starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.
