Students were encouraged to wear spirit wear for their favorite Detroit sports team for the kickoff of Spirit Week.

Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology is celebrating its first homecoming week this week.

Five days have been planned for students to dress-up and show their school spirit.

One highlight of the week is Thursday’s pep rally,

which is scheduled to take place during the end of the school day in the fieldhouse, followed by the varsity football game on Friday, Oct. 7, against  Stoney Creek High School. The crowning of the homecoming court will take place during half time.

The homecoming dance is scheduled to take place in the gym from 7 p.m. -10 p.m. in the fieldhouse.

Students cannot wear jeans to the dance, according to faculty sponsor Andrew Green.
