Strictly Business: Self-employed businessman David Washington models some of the clothing he sells under his business name Wealth and Riches Clothing.

Senior David Washington is one of several Blue Jays who owns his own business.
Washington owns a clothing brand called Wealth and Riches Clothing, which prints custom T-shirts, jogging pants, hoodies, jackets and other apparel.
Growing up, Washington always wanted to be his own boss and always had a passion for fashion. As he became older, he saw how he could take the “hustler” mentality he witnessed as a kid and turn it into something positive. The result was Wealth and Riches.
Washington started his business in 2013, and at that time he simply sold T-shirts. Over the years, Wealth and Riches has grown to be a popular brand in the metro Detroit area, selling a variety of apparel.

The young entrepreneur now has all of his own printing equipment in his basement and reaps most of the rewards by producing all his clothing himself.
“I’m gearing to take my brand to new heights by opening a printing shop/store in the Metro-Detroit area,” said Washington.

After he launches a Detroit store, he wants to open a shop in Atlanta, he said.
He credits his mother, Franessa Washington, for investing in his first set of shirts. So, in a sense, she gave birth to both him and his apparel business.
