Michael Avery has accepted the position as coach of the Boys Varsity Basketball Team. He replaces Gary Teasley, who announced he will retire from Southfield High after this school year.

Michael Avery has taken over as the new Varsity Boys Basketball coach. He takes the place of former Coach Gary Teasley, who held the position for 14 years.
Avery has coached basketball for 25 years all over Michigan, including Flint, Northwestern Ann Arbor, Southfield Lathrup High School and Southfield High back in 2000. He also played basketball in high school and college.
Avery said he wants to continue the legacy created by Teasley and inspire the team. “I want the team to feed off of my energy,” said Avery.
