Golfers Get Tips From Collegiates

In an effort to improve their team scores, the Girls Golf team is getting tips from college golfers.
Female golfers from The University of Detroit-Mercy offered to pair up with Southfield High golfers recently and hit the links at Beechwoods Golf Course, which is the home course for both teams.
They played together September 12, in foursomes, with two from each team.
“It did help,” said senior Coty Knight. “They told me to keep my knees bent and make sure I have the proper stance.”
Senior Caitlyn Jones said, “I asked them how to have my ball go straight instead of curving, and they said to step back to see which direction I wanted to go, then get ready, have my knees bent, and look down.”
Led by Captain Ariana Harrington, the Girls Golf team is improving scores, according to Coach Stephen Sharp.
With six seniors on the team, Sharp is looking to add new talent. The team has one junior and one sophomore that he said are expected to return next year.
