Takedown: Senior Christian Daniels sizes up his De La Salle opponent for a takedown. Daniels is league champ at 152 pounds.

“This is one of the best teams in school history overall from top to bottom” Head Coach Tim Conley said about this year’s Varsity Wrestling team.
The team won the league championship this year. It’s the seventh time Southfield High School has done so.
Head Coach Tim Conley, who wrestled for Michigan State University, has been coaching the Blue Jays wrestling team on and off for 10 years. He said he expects his team to continue doing great things after having a season record at press time of 20-4 and being on a roll as a team.
Among the team’s top wrestlers are seniors Alias Broadnax (135 pounds), Christian Daniels (152)  junior Jake Brock (160), Anthony Springer (189) and Heavyweight Makene Culpepper.
Team Captain Culpepper said his teammates practice through the holidays and snow days. “Pushing through practice is how we are going to win. Six minutes of hard wrestling and getting some pins is the only way we will win it all.”
