Southfield High singer Malaya Watson is not leaving Hollywood just yet.
Despite landing in the bottom three on
American Idol Thursday, Watson made it to the top 12 finalists.
Show Producer Randy Jackson said, “Her excitement took away from her powerful voice.” And she did not have as many votes as others.
But she made it through another cut, allowing the Filipino-American singer to remain in the running for America’s newest idol.
This likely means Watson will not be taking her ACT test as scheduled on Tuesday, March 6.
School Principal Michael Horn said he did not mind. “Surely,
a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is bigger than an ACT test. Surely!
We will figure it out.”
