Travelers Book Spring Break Trips

Spring break plans are a hot topic of student conversations these days.
While many students plan to stay in town, others, such as sophomore Christopher Mosby, plan to travel out of town to have fun.

Mosby is scheduled to take a trip to London, England, with University High School Academy.
It is part of the international trips that the school takes once a year.
Mosby said, “I’m very excited to venture to London and see all the historical and cultural landmarks that they have in their country.”
The eight-day trip has a different event planned for each day, such as a visit to Buckingham Palace, a guided tour of the Tower of London, city walks, theater visits and a drama workshop at the Globe Theater.
Mosby says he hopes to see Big Ben, the House of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, Hyde Park, St. Paul’s Cathedral and Windsor Castle.
“My mother has been paying on a payment plan since August,” Mosby said. “Some of my family members helped give my mother funds to pay for the trip.”

The total cost of the trip was $3,282, plus spending money to use while on the trip.

A different group of students from Southfield High will be traveling to Spain the week after Spring Break.
Seniors Taylor Haywood, Mariah Wilkerson and Labree James have tickets to a spring break cruise to Mexico.
On the trip they will be accompanied by Haywood’s mother and aunt.
The Mexico trip was brought up when Haywood’s aunt asked Haywood to pick two of her friends to join them in Mexico.
Haywood’s aunt is paying for the trip; Haywood’s friends were only told to bring shopping money along with them.
Wilkerson said, “This is my first cruise, and I’m happy I get to go on it with my best friends.”
The girls said they plan to visit the teen club that is on the cruise ship.
For sleeping arrangements, Haywood, Wilkerson and James will be in one room and Haywood’s relatives will be in another room.
Haywood said, “I am looking forward to spending time with my friends and family and I can’t wait to get away from Michigan.”
Both Haywood and Wilkerson said they are excited to meet some foreign boys.
