Girls Golf Team Seeks Members

The Girls Golf team has room for new members, according to Coach Steven Sharp.
He has 10 golfers for next year and wants at least two more to keep the team going, he said.
Of his hopefuls for next year, two are returning golfers – sophomore Tyler Washington and junior Bianca Wright.
Sharp said he has been working hard recruiting. “Having more (team members) than required is the goal because if something comes up or some girls quit, it won’t take away the chance from other girls to play,” Sharp said.
The team graduated six seniors out of its eight members this year, including Charda Williams, Coty Knight, Caitlyn Jones, Tarcie Watkins, Arianna Harrington and Paige McCardy.
Williams said golf is a “great experience for kids our age; it isn’t a usual sport that anybody would just pick up.”
Team members pay no greens fees and golf clubs are provided if needed. The recruitment flyer reads, “We provide equipment and snacks. No experience needed.”
