Catch me: Softball catcher Adriana Echols suits up between innings during a home game.

The Lady Jays Softball team is led this year by senior team Captain Adriana Echols, who is also the catcher.
Pitching for the Lady Jays is senior Taylor Winslow, who also plays third base and outfield positions and freshman Arianna McMiller.
Winslow said, “We are a hard-working team, and we have real potential if we continue to work hard.”
The Softball team so far this year has a record of 5 wins and 6 losses. They have twice defeated Oak Park and also defeated Trillium, Harper Woods and Southfield-Lathrup High School.
Their star player is Echols, who hit a home run over the fence in the first game against Oak Park. “It was the first on my watch,” said Principal Michael Horn, meaning no girl has hit one over the fence while he was principal at Southfield High. Her home run also brought in one run.
Coach Ronald Goss said, “The girls are coming along nicely. I’m just looking for growth from the team. “
