Science Classes Race Boats
Boat races are on the agenda this week for students in Integrated Science classes.
Students are building their own boats out of 1-liter plastic bottles and are using baking soda and vinegar to power them up. When the two are combined, they fizz, Bonnington said.
The purpose of this lab assignment is to teach students about chemical reactions, said Science Department Chair Craig Bonnington.
Sophomore Ashley Ogu said, “This experiment helps me understand how chemical reaction works.” She said the lab is “interesting.”
This lab experiment will be held in the C house hallway where boats will race in water-filled plastic gutters.
The teachers participating are Kimberly Wardell-Stone, Bruce Shepard and Bonnington.

Really interesting.

The story was very interesting. I enjoyed reading about how the boats were constructed out of a pop bottle and how it was powered by vinegar and baking soda.
